Thanks to 3quarksdaily for linking to The New Left Review on Gunnar Heinsohn’s Söhne und Weltmacht (Sons and World Power.) Heinsohn notices that when countries have more young men than they know what to do with, they often go to war. In his book, originally published in 2003, he examines that correlation in depth.
